The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has maintained that the 2024 election, which produced Afam Osigwe as the new president, was credible and transparent. The committee responded to complaints from presidential candidates Tobenna Erojikwe and Chukwuka Ikwuazom, who questioned the integrity of the process.
The ECNBA emphasized that the Election Voting Platform (Election Buddy), an international company based in Canada, conducted the election with no affiliation to the NBA or any candidate. The committee detailed its compliance with the constitution and addressed allegations of voters’ list publication, identity theft, and discrepancies in vote display.
The ECNBA asked the candidates to provide specific information about observed cases, allowing the committee to investigate and publish findings. The committee expressed confidence in the process and system design, ensuring the integrity of the election.
The ECNBA also clarified that the results display page had an automatic refresh feature, and the final tally reflected the exact number of votes cast. The committee reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the election process and ensuring accurate reflection of votes.
The ECNBA will conduct a post-election audit and make its report public in the next few weeks, containing recommendations for improving the process.
