As part of concerted efforts towards achieving the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda and eradicating environmental nuisance and miscreants around Oshodi market environs, a joint team of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) and the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) has embarked on a clean up of market areas in Oshodi.
The Corps Marshal of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), CP Gbemisola Akinpelu (rtd), speaking on the exercise at the Agency’s Command Headquarters in Bolade-Oshodi decried the deplorable filth at Oshodi caused by illegal street traders, who have converted lay-bys, walkways and pedestrian bridges into trading places.
She said the joint exercise with the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) was in line with the directive of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to increase enforcement in the area and clear all environmental infractions.
CP Akinpelu, therefore, implored the traders in Oshodi and Lagos, in general, to maintain cleanliness and desist from displaying their goods or trade on lay-bys, walkways and pedestrian bridges created for pedestrians only.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce), CSP Shola Jejeloye, said that the exercise will be a continuous one until all marketers and traders comply with the Lagos State Environmental Laws 2017.
