As a nationwide protest looms, the Federal Government has directed vice-chancellors of universities to take proactive measures to ensure the security and safety of staff and students. The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, gave the directive through a statement by the acting Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Chris Maiyaki.
The statement advised vice-chancellors to issue specific statements assuring staff and students of their safety and to encourage students to remain on campus to focus on their academic pursuits, avoiding potential danger during the planned protests.
