Breaking… LASG Moves to Regularize Uber, Taxify (Bolt) and other Ride-Hailing Services

    Following the recent confrontations witnessed between drivers under some ride-hailing platforms and officials of Lagos State Motor Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) and subsequent claims that went viral on social media platforms instigating the imposition of a one-off payment levy of N110, 000 (one Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira Only) by the state government from each driver under these platforms which was refuted by the Lagos State Ministry of Transport.

    Though the discussion is still ongoing with all concerned stakeholders in the industry; however information has it that tentatively March 1, 2020, drivers willing to operate under any of the ride-hailing platforms in the state are expected to be issued with Lagos State Drivers’ Institute Driver’s Recertification Card (LASDRI Card) and a Driver Badge by Lagos State Ministry of Transport’s Department of Public Transport and Commuter Services while all vehicles to be enlisted under these platforms are expected to be issued with A State Hackney Permit and a Vehicle Body Tag by the Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA) and Lagos State Ministry of Transport’s Department of Public Transport and Commuter Services respectively in addition to the existing requirements by the Federal Road Safety Corps.
