Nigerians for decades have been known for their acts of love, tolerance of one another and most importantly the never say die attitude but all these seem to be fading away in the recent times as the act of suicidal seem to be on the increase.

More worrisome and devastating is how the Lagos Lagoon has fast become the attractive escape route from depression, frustration, discouragement as people have resorted to suicide in a bid to end up their ‘miserable’ lives.
Last year, the death of a musician of a renowned church who was unable to pay his house rent, the death of a close relative in Alimosho who was killed by her husband all resulting from controllable act of frustrations has prompted Okun Alimosho to think that our communities have lost the affinity and unity amongst each other.
The fast waning of the era of ‘chopping alone’ was considered as treason, the era when we were all ready to help a friend’s car out of a ditch without seeing it as an avenue to get our pockets occupied; what happened! What happened to the times where little acts of kindness was used to detonate heavy suicidal tendencies amongst the people, when a simple complement could be a person’s hope to want to go one more day.
You can imagine the joy in paying a stranger’s transport fare, a cold drink to a busy traffic warden, these little actions meant a lot and went as far as provoking them to want to replicate such in their little capacities, thereby tightening the bond amongst each other.
Hence, Oku Alimosho is launching campaign tagged #ProvokeSomeoneToLoveToday. This program is a 40 weeks city-wide Love challenge tagged with several acts of kindness done to remodel and foster the fast diminishing acts of freedom, peace and unity amongst citizens of Alimosho and its leaders, by networking them in their respective (L.C.D.A.’s) and environs.
The organizers of this campaign believe that at the end of it the fading acts of love will be restored thereby reducing the trending acts of suicide to its barest minimum while facilitate the coming together of broken home, increase tolerance amongst neighbors, strangers and promoting the dignity against child abuse and restoring the absent respect for elders.
To this end everyone is invited to join the campaign in their little ways to making this act a holistic (cut across different class of humanity) and intentional (using it as a tool for social development).

The launch will take place today, March 1,2020 at the Kelly Ann Hotels and Events 1-3,Aderele street by 5pm prompt.
