Military Operations in Katsina and Zamfara Result in Ten Terrorists Eliminated and Nine Victims Rescued
In a successful military operation conducted by the Joint Task Force, North West Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), ten terrorists were neutralized, and nine victims were rescued in Katsina and Zamfara states. The spokesperson for the Joint Task Force, North West Operation Hadarin Daji, Captain Ibrahim Yahaya, revealed these outcomes in a statement on Wednesday.
According to Captain Yahaya, the troops, led by Major General Godwin Mutkut, General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, executed the successful dry season clearance operations. On January 3, 2024, the combined troops of OPHD conducted an offensive operation in identified terrorist enclaves in Batsari and Safana Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Katsina state, resulting in the neutralization of ten terrorists, with others fleeing with gunshot wounds.
The statement noted, “The troops also recovered one AK-47 Rifle, ammunition, seven Dane guns, three locally fabricated guns, and other dangerous weapons, as well as communication gadgets, mobile phones, and military uniforms, while 4 motorcycles were recovered.”
In a search and rescue operation at Dansadau and Dandalla villages in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, the troops rescued nine victims, including five women and four babies, who had been kidnapped. The terrorists abandoned the victims and fled after a gun duel with the resilient troops. The rescued victims were promptly reunited with their families at Magami.
Major General Godwin Mutkut, the Commander of Joint Task Force North West Operation Hadarin Daji, commended the troops’ efforts and urged them to maintain the high operational tempo.
