Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has suspended his Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, Wale Ajetunmobi, over a controversial social media post. Ajetunmobi had claimed that those who burnt a media outlet during the 2020 #EndSARS protests were “hunted down and executed” ¹.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, announced the suspension, stating that Ajetunmobi’s post was a “misrepresentation of facts on his personal ‘X’ account on a past incident” ¹.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that his administration does not condone extrajudicial punishment, saying “That is not who we are. That is not our way” ¹.
In a related development, the Lagos State House of Assembly has debated the 2025 appropriation bill of N3.005 trillion presented by Governor Sanwo-Olu. The bill has been committed to a joint committee on appropriation and finance for review, with a mandate to report back in one month ¹.
