In what seem like replicating the activities of Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on provision of infrastructure in the entire nook and crannies of Lagos state, Honourable Ganiyu Quadri is at the final stage of partnering Summerfield Consult Limited in eradicating portholes across the length and breadth of Alimosho LG.
Speaking to journalists during the demonstration exercise by Summerfield Consult Limited, the Sole Administrator who said the need to partner with SCL is necessitated by several reasons amongst are cost savings, fast and reduction of man hour of labour. According to him, prior to this time what we usually experience during exercise of effecting minor repairs on our roads, the roads are totally locked down thereby causing traffic grid lucks but today we are seeing it differently, the excuse of not working during rainy season is also not applicable here as this method allows repairs even while it rains. Another thing that we are not experiencing is also the usual heavy movement of truck/equipment today we have only on equipment that is doing the whole job.
Answering questions on why the choice of Oladipupo Fatore Street in Santos Layout he said that the choice is highly strategic as the aim is to decongest Akowonjoo which is usually blocked during the rush hour as the said street is another route that connects to the Abeokuta Expressway inward Ikeja. He also noted that the exercise will be replicated on all the motor-able roads in Alimosho noting that the challenge will hinged on the availability of funds as he reiterated the need for residents to pay their rates so as to enable his administration to undertake this exercise.
When asked on how much the LG will be saving from this partnership; he said that though the agreement is yet to be signed but from presentations made to his office the LG will be saving up to 55% cost of using the manual method while emphasising that what is being done today is at zero cost to the LG as it represents part of the demonstrations prior to signing of the agreement. When asked why describing this as Public Private Partnership since the LG will be paying for the service, he agreed that PPP involves the parties contributing to the terms but in this case he said that the company‘s contribution here is on the cost saving the LG will be making which SCL assured their quality deliverables and owing to the present economic situation of the country.
When asked on what his administration is doing concerning the Jimoh and Micom bus stops usually flooded at the slightest rain drops he said that the project is a state project which the state has assured to correct during the next phase of 181 community road s projects. When asked if he is looking at options of partnering companies in Alimosho in building infrastructures, he said that on many occasions he has sighted the need for Alimosho’s status to be upgraded to urban area as the LG has continually metamorphosed to business district while projecting that the LG will be a super-urban in the nearest future.
