The Moremi Goodwill Project, the pet project of the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts & Culture Pharm (Mrs) Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf for the beneficial of the constituents of Alimosho Federal constituency. The project which kicked off in 2014 and so far has enlisted several beneficiaries under its various empowerment programs with its first edition focused on empowerment packed project wherein numbers of residents of Agbado-Okeodo LCDA were beneficiaries.
The second edition took place in 2017 and its focused was on adding a thrust on the improvement of quality and standard of education within Alimosho Federal Constituency with the distribution educational materials which included but not limited to school bags, big notes, mathematical sets etc. This year’s edition which also marks its third had a different agenda from the previous events as it kicked off with community engagement a new initiative of the Moremi Goodwill project (MGP).
The community engagement is stakeholders meeting that proffers avenue to intimate residents of Alimosho Federal Constituency on the T.H.E.ME.S. Agenda of the current administration in Lagos State led by Governor Babjide Olushola Sanwo-Olu and areas of collaborations with all its agencies, the event also had representatives of other Ministries such as Environmental, Special Duties & Inter-governmental Relations, and Physical planning who took time to inform stakeholders on their activities and availing them the opportunity to ask questions on any grey areas of their activities.
The second agenda for this year focused on Youth Development programme facilitated and sponsored by the foundation Moremi Goodwill Project. This is borne out of Pharm (Mrs) Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf’s passion for youths whilst serving as Commissioner for Youths and Social Development Lagos State in the immediate past administration where she initiated a program named “Ibile Youth Academy” (IYA) and today its success stories of participants have been so encouraging, hence her quest to replicate same for the youths of her constituency.
Links were given through her social media handles with criteria interested participants for registration which include; proof of Alimosho residence, within the age limit of 18-25 with verifiable birth certificate,
The last on its agenda for the 3rd edition was an interest free loan facility empowerment program for Alimosho residents only; which passed through the scrutinizing of the loan committee whose responsibilities includes amongst others, the ascertainment of repayment plans of each potential beneficiary and verifying of their guarantors. The loan facility comes with a three months moratorium, designed for those in urgent need of little amount of capital to start-up or support their existing business.
In her closing remarks Mrs Akinbile thanked all members of the Committees from its inception to date as chaired by Pharm. Oduwole Fredrick, Hon. Francis Adebisi and Prince Buhari Sulaimon respectively, while urging members of the loan empowerment Committee to live up to their responsibilities while acknowledging the onerous task ahead but very confident that they will deliver on their assignments.
