Motorists and residents of Alimosho LG have criticized the construction of Oyinlola street an inner road while major roads are neglected despite the public outcries on the current state of its major roads such as Akowonjo, Mashalashi roundabout, Ogunlana street amongst others which serves as major alternative routes to motorists and commuters alike.

Many agreed that though every road required maintenance but insensitivity of the LG embarking on the construction of Oyinlola street is nothing but a misplaced priority and high level of neglect of the peoples’ welfare. Akowonjo road which serves at the economic nerve center of the LG have been neglected for years as its porthole have now degenerated to mass graves thereby causing untold hardship on its citizenry.
One of the official of the LG who pleaded anonymity and agreed with peoples’ opinion said that the Akowonjo should have been given at least a palliative measures to cushion the hardship motorist and commuters are endearing even if the state government has any plans for it;  instead of embarking on a fresh construction of a street with less contribution to the easing of gridlock resulting from the bad portions of the road within the LG. He further reiterated that people oriented projects would have been more appreciated especially at this critical economic period.
He added that residents of Alimosho LG and environs that ply these roads have consistently appealed to the leadership of the LG to come to their aid on the conditions of these road via several radio programs yet with nothing to show for their appeals. It could be recalled that sometime in 2019 the LG mounted banners on the rehabilitation of Ogunlana street but only for the banners to disappear afterwards without any meaningful thing done on the road.
Our efforts to reach the LG for comments proved abortive as the Chief Press Secretary was yet to get back to us as at time of press.
The Alimosho Mail wishes to add its voice to further call the attention of the Chairman to urgently provide palliatives on these road to sooth the peoples’ hardship while wishing him and his administration a prosperous 2020.
