Excerpts
Can we meet you sir?
My name is Honourable Oyedeji Olaposi Oyeniran (O.O.O.)aka Maintenance, a graduate of Lagos State University Electrical Engineering and the immediate past managing director of Reign International Limited and by the grace of God the chairmanship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Lagos State local government election on July 22nd 2017.
Has LASIEC accredited you as PDP candidate?
Very good question, for clarity and for avoidance of misleading electorates, there is no faction in Lagos PDP, from state chairman Mr Segun Adewale (Aero), my LGA chairman Hon Abu Ojekereto all ward chairmen our leadership is united and there is therefore no reason to doubt my candidature. In all assurance I confirm to you that LASIEC has the recognition of our party’s candidates for the election.
Sir, how much of Mosan-Okunola do you know?
Mosan-Okunola LCDA is one of the six LCDAs created out from Alimosho LGA with boundaries with Ipaja-Ayobo LCDA on the North Abesan River at Jakande estate with Abule Oki community and the South with Egbe-Idimu Local Government while East and West Isheri-Iyana Ipaja road up to 2nd bridge on Abeokuta express road and Baruwa and Ipaja communities respectively. It is also one of the most populated by the reason of both federal and state estates endowed with. The LCDA has its potentials which ought to have positioned her for greatness but for the lack of visionary leadersip which we will offer.
It is believed that Governor Ambode as done exceptionally well in his two years in office would you agree with that or what is your take on it?
It’s all a mirage, Lagosians have been made gullible for over eighteen years of our democracy with the leadership in Lagos State, what Ambode is doing is not different from what his predecessors did, the essence of governance is for the provision of quality leadership and infrastructure and what have you, whatever thing he is doing today is what ought to have been done considering the enormous wealth of Lagos state also I want to say this categorically that what you are seeing in Logos today is as a result of pressure arising from the failure of APC at the federal level . What he is doing today is he doing it with his money and the answer is capital NO which confirms the amount of embezzlements going on in Lagos in the past sixteen years. I want to assure you that Nigerians and Lagosians are tired of the whole thing and they are yearning for the true change which only PDP can still offer it.
Over the years campaigns have been to be seen as promissory notes which are never cashed till the exit from office, what difference are you offering people of Mosan-Okunola?
I don’t promise and people can attest to that but my word to the people of Mosan-Okunola is that there will be genuine empowerment and development.
We are used to seeing politicians’ empowerment program as poverty elevation instead of alleviation; where a carpenter is given tricycle (keke) and he abandons his trade for quick cash few weeks or month he is out of jobless?
I must say it that it is acts of wickedness, you can empower a man or woman on what he or she knows or does best. We have designed an empowerment program that will be focused on empowering the youths right from their school ages, we are going to be equipping residents with the skill and knowledge to build wealth, our empowerment program will include granting of grants to the communities at the local government levels. We have concluded arrangements with companies that will invest in technological /ICT development in Mosan-Okunola because the world today is ruled by technology and Mosan must key into the 21st century agenda.
You have talked about your plans for the youths, what happens to the market woman?
I said earlier that we are going to be giving grants and the market women are our focus, when these women are empowered they will go extra mile to impact their wards.
Are you aware of plans to close down shops within the Gowon Estate so as to compel shop owners to patronise the newly built stalls by Mosan-Okunola LCDA on 52 Road?
That is barbaric, we will not approve that, constitutionally those stalls are illegal as they represent a sharp contrast to all the standards of building safety, also it is a federal estate hence it will mean illegality upon illegality and we will not support it.
What are your strategies to deal with the politicking at Alausa as an opposition?
We have strategies and so far they are working and believe you me, when we get to that bridge you will witness us crossing it.
What is your general assessment of Nigeria today?
I should ask you the same because it is obvious that Nigerians were made to believe that PDP ruined the economy in her sixteen years at the helms of affairs yet we were all happier than we are today and our economy flourished, today what do we have; an economy that has been driven into recession with no idea of bring her out with confusion everywhere after mid-way into APC’s first term the blame game is still on-going. The so called change agents are now more confused than ever. Nigerians are wiser now and they can never be fooled again.
What are your words to Mosan-Okunola’s electorate?
My appeal to all eligible voter in Mosan-Okunola LCDA is to be part of this genuine change that will make everyone one of them part of this government as we hope to run an all-inclusive government that will listen and also be proactive to all their plights.
