Gender tussle gets a head on because our society is filled with less confident men and women.
Someone asked me some time ago, ‘are you a feminist’? I answered, ‘we are all feminine’. People do not want to hear the word ‘feminist’ cos it triggers negative emotions, it communicates authority, and it represents freedom from the bondage society placed on women over the years. I mean, who wants to loose a captive?
For some men, they just want to put you down and render you voiceless by calling you a feminist’. So you recoil and return to your shell; taking in all the abuse and in the long run become a victim of yourself!
Hey, I am not of the school of thought that ‘what a man can do, a woman can do better!’ No WAY! I am a promoter of the school of thought that ‘WHAT A MAN CAN DO, ONLY A MAN CAN DO! WHAT A WOMAN CAN DO, ONLY A WOMAN CAN DO’!
You can’t be ‘me’ and be ‘you’ at the same time. Cherish your individuality, concentrate on your productivity! Be self confident.
We won’t have the issue of gender equality, equity, marginalization if we are just confident and self-sufficient.
Men wouldn’t fight for authority and demand to be respected. Respect is earned! Respect is reciprocated. You only earn respect by giving out respect. If you fail to respect the females around you because of the ‘male’ mentality, I am sorry but you will cry, beg and fight to be respected.
Every body deserves to be respected; even a child knows when he/she is being embarrassed and will demand a stop. If you have respect for yourself, you will respect others, when you respect others (no matter the gender), you will be respected.
Bottom line, life dishes you what you bring to the table. Know yourself, be yourself, promote yourself, be proactive and you won’t have time for gender tussle.
