The Lagos State government has appealed on Lagosians to bear with her on the current menace caused by indiscriminate dumping of refuse across the state as efforts are on-going to check the menace. This was made known by the Commissioner of Information and Strategy Honourable Kehinde Bamgbetan during a special meeting/ briefing of the community media forum in Alausa on Wednesday.
He said the state is aware of the challenge and is working tirelessly with all stakeholders to resolve, noting that the state had met with the Local Government Chairmen on Monday concerning the issue where he said they pledged to join hands in clearing them, also he said the challenge is climax by the winding up of the existing waste management system that will give way for the take-off of the Cleaner Lagos Initiative while asuring that the handlers of the new system has already commenced the take-off phase with the distribution of waste collection materials which will be completed soonest.
He further enjoined the community media forum to always true reportage of community activities in communities under their jurisdiction. In a response to his plea, the patron of the community media forum in Lagos State Alhaji Mansour Olowosago pledged on behalf of the forum to always support the government with incisive reportage of communities and to remain the best means of disseminating information by the government to the communities.
