The Lagos State Government has announced that traffic will be diverted at Apapa Dockyard Road from 6:00 pm on Sunday, 23rd of January till 6:00 am on Monday, 24th January, 2022 for maintenance works on the Level Crossing in continuation of the Nigerian Railway Modernisation Project (Lagos-Ibadan section).

A statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde disclosed further that the maintenance works were vital to keeping the rail track in proper condition to ensure the safety of the commuting public.

Explaining the traffic diversion plan, he stated that while a side of the road is being repaired, a counterflow will be created on the free lane to enable motorists plying the route to reach their desired destinations without much difficulty.

Oladeinde urged road users to cooperate with the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to minimise inconveniences that may be experienced during the maintenance period.

The Commissioner also appealed to residents, especially motorists plying the axis, to fully comply with the interventions made available to ease traffic flow, as the project is aimed at achieving a seamless Multi-Modal Transport System that will provide viable options for movement and subsequently meet the transportation needs of the State’s large population
