The Director-General/CEO, Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Hakeem Dickson has tasked Civil Engineers and other relevant professionals in the built industry to live up to their responsibility by adhering to safety standards and guidelines while practising their profession.
Dickson, who made the assertion on Wednesday at a one-day seminar on “Safety Considerations in Civil Engineering Infrastructure and Facilities Management” organised by the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE) in conjunction with the Lagos State Safety Commission, expressed the commitment of the Lagos State Government to the overall safety of lives and property in the State.
The Director-General said the Seminar became necessary in view of the need to sensitise relevant stakeholders on safety measures, adding that the Commission, as a responsible and responsive agency, will continue to perform its mandate through sustained advocacy on safety till it gets to every corner of the State.
Earlier, the Chairman of Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (Lagos State Chapter) Engr. Omolola Adetona appreciated the Lagos State Safety Commission for their commitment to the overall safety of everybody by supporting the activities and programmes that will promote safety in the State.
She said the Seminar was organised to raise the consciousness of professionals to their responsibility of ensuring the safety of lives and property in their line of duty.
The Seminar had in attendance Civil Engineers and Facility Managers as well as seasoned professionals in the built.
