The Association of Practitioners of Community Media in Nigeria (APCOM) has commended the Lagos State Government for swiftly condemning the “Igbo Must Go” campaign, a hateful and inciting rhetoric perpetuated by a blogger known as Lagospedia.

APCOM praised the government’s proactive stance in addressing the issue, but urged them to take further action by setting up an investigation to identify and bring to justice the instigators of the campaign. The association emphasized that those responsible must face the full wrath of the law to serve as a deterrent to others who may seek to propagate hate and division.

APCOM stood in solidarity with the Igbo community and all individuals targeted by the vile campaign, reiterating their commitment to promoting diversity, inclusivity, and community cohesion. They vowed to continue working tirelessly to combat hate speech and promote peaceful coexistence.

The association commended the Lagos State Government for its leadership in the matter and looked forward to seeing concrete actions taken to address the issue. Together, APCOM believes that a society that values and respects the dignity of all individuals, regardless of their ethnicity, religion, or background, can be built.
