In response to the escalating security challenges in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, has convened an emergency meeting. The deteriorating security situation, marked by the increasing activities of kidnappers and bandits in certain areas of the FCT in recent months, prompted this urgent gathering.
Expressing concern over these developments, Wike called for the participation of security agencies and key stakeholders in the FCT on Tuesday. The meeting saw the attendance of heads of security agencies in the FCT, high-ranking officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), council chairmen, and traditional leaders.
During the deliberations, Wike urged council chairmen to fulfill their responsibilities and reassured residents of improved security measures. He emphasized the necessity for a re-strategizing of the security apparatus in the FCT to effectively address the insecurity prevalent in the nation’s capital.
