The biggest electric distribution company – Ikeja Electric has urged customers under its network with STS prepaid meter to upgrade them before November 2024.
IE noted that customers who fail to update their meters before the said date won’t be able to recharge their prepaid meters.
In a post via its verified handle on X, formerly known as Twitter @ikejaelectric, listed the simple two steps required to upgrading an STS Prepaid Meter.
All is required is for a customer to visit: https//smartkyc.ikejaelectric.com/nin and click on non or metre to validate your meter, input your NIN and phone number, and click on next, a code will be sent for validation.
Step two; to update your STS meter you need a special reset token to be loaded on your meter and only customers with validated NIN will receive the token.
“From November, 2024, you may not be able to recharge your meter. However, updating is easy and free.
“The update will not affect the units in your meter nor will it make your meter run faster than usual.”
