IKEDC Appoints Three Suppliers for 1,074,411 Prepaid Metres

    Following Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission issuing of permits to Metre Asset Providers (MAP) that will supply metres to customers of Ikeja Electric Distribution Company Plc.

    IKEJA Electric has appointed Mojec international Limited to supply (399,790) metres, Consolidated Infrastructure Group (397,922) metres and New Harmshire Capital Ltd (276,699)metres within its franchise under MAP

    NERC said the permit is accordance with section 4(3) of the MAP Regulations 2018 was issued to MAPs that were successful in the procurement process conducted by IKEJA Electric.

    Section 4(3) of the MAP regulation 2018 requires all electricity distribution licensees to engage MAPs that would assist as investors, in closing the metering gap and thus eliminating the practice of estimated billing in the Nigerian electric supply industry

    NERC said the rollout of metres would commence no later than the May 1, 2019 and customers should expect from the commencement of rollout date , metres to be installed in their premises within 10 working days of making payments to MAPs in accordance with section 18(3) of MAP Regulations 2018.

    It also stated that MAPs shall charge an upfront amount of N36,991.50 and N67,055.85 for single and three phase metres respectively. These costs are inclusive of supply installation, maintenance and replacement of metres over its technical life.

    The commission shall monitor closely rollout of distribution licensees and overall compliance with the regulation and various services agreements by the MAP and electricity licensees
