Theophilus Alaye, leader of the Ijaw youth, has expressed outrage and disappointment at the failed promises of Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Alaye criticized Kyari for deceiving the public with false stories about the Port Harcourt refinery’s revival.

“The NNPC GMD has failed us,” Alaye declared. “They fed us fake stories, telling us the Port Harcourt refinery would be up and running. But it’s all lies!”

Alaye emphasized that the Ijaw people do not tolerate failure and mediocrity, demanding accountability from Kyari and the NNPC. He lamented the continued neglect of the refinery, which has left the region in economic stagnation.

“The Ijaw people are tired of being deceived,” Alaye said. “We demand action, not words. It’s time for Kyari to take responsibility for his failures and work towards reviving the refinery.”

Alaye’s statement comes amidst growing frustration among Niger Delta communities, who feel betrayed by the NNPC’s unfulfilled promises. The Port Harcourt refinery, once a symbol of economic prosperity, has remained dormant for years, exacerbating poverty and unemployment in the region.

As tensions rise, the Ijaw youth leader’s outburst serves as a wake-up call to the NNPC and government officials, urging them to take concrete steps towards reviving the refinery and restoring economic hope to the Niger Delta region.
