The efforts of the Executive Chairman of Igando-Ikotun LCDA Honourable Morenike Adeshina Williams in making sure that Igando-Ikotun LCDA enjoy a clean environment which led her to instruct Igando-Ikotun LCDA Environmental Sanitation Enforcement team to embark on 24 hours surveillance patrol in a bid to arresting the menace of illegal dumping of refuse within the LCDA which is yielding a positive result as two men engaged in the nefarious act were apprehended by the monitoring team.
The men who were in the act of dumping sacks of refuse at their discretion within the LCDA were apprehended while using a tricycle popularly called keke Napep loaded with bags of refuse and dumping them on the streets around Olafarm, Abaranje and Ikotun at night on October 29th, 2017 when luck ran out of them as the monitoring team’s eagle eye caught up with them. The men identified as Frank and Stanley have been handed over to the ministry of environment for further action which will include prosecution under the relevant laws of Lagos State.
While assuring the residents on her commitment to sanitize Igando-Ikotun LCDA of this menace, Honourable Williams promised not relent until that is achieved, while reiterating on her administration’s commitment to key into Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s Clean Lagos Initiative aimed at providing a healthier and cleaner environment for all Lagosians.
