Business owners within the Gowon Estate, Egbeda, Okunola, Abule Odu and environs are lamenting on the new pattern Ikeja Electric Distribution Company has adopted in the recent month which have left businesses running on generators during the day while lights are only restored at night, according to their plights they said the light is usually restored between the hours of 7pm to 8am when businesses are ready to kick start.
Iya Moyo, a frozen food seller at Abule –Odu lament that she has been spending money to make sure her freezer remains chilled all through the day, another woman at Okunola who runs a business centre said she is almost frustrated with the new arrangement which cost her over N1,000.00 daily to power her generating set which is killing. There is need to help small businesses to thrive too by helping to reduce our running cost on fuel.
A resident of Awari Street in Abule Odu lament that it has become very worrisome as the company (IE) is not making effort to inform her numerous customers on the cause of the shedding but rather interested in carrying ladder to disconnect debtor; he continues that it is worse as the kids are on long vacation which has compelled parents to power their generating sets just to provide comfort for the kids yet one is expected to pay electricity bill at the end of the month which is grossly unfair. We were unable to reach the IE Head of Communication Mr Ofulue for comments as at press time.
