GRASSROOT SPORTS DEVELOPMENT: ABISCO CUP KICKS OFF

    The Maiden edition of the ABISCO CUP kicked off on Tuesday at the ABESAN YOUTH CENTER, in Mosan Okunola LCDA, Lagos State.

    The Talent Hunt Soccer event which is an initiative of the Executive Chairman of Mosan Okunola LCDA, Hon. (Princess) Olabisi Adebajo aka Abisco, in partnership with the National Chairman of the Football Supporters Club of Nigeria, Rev. Samuel Ikpea and the management team of the ABESAN YOUTH CENTER.

    All necessary soccer teams e,g, the medical team, the security team, etc were present to meet with requirements.

    A handful of important dignitaries were also present to grace the occasion.
    The ceremonial Tournament kick–off was performed by the Honourable Chairman accompanied by her Husband.

    The tournament which comprises of 32 teams of seven-a-side players, (6 players and a goalkeeper per team) was grouped to go through a preliminary knock-out stage, where winners proceeds and the loser drops out of the tournament.

    The opening match was between Marvelous FC and 6th Avenue FC which ended on 0-1 score sheet in favor of 6th Avenue FC, after an explosive 40mins. full-time play, (20mins/half).

    The second match was between The African Church Youth and the United Squad, with The African Church Youth securing a 2-0 victory over their opponent at full-time.

    The third match of the day was between Iyana Ipaja Santos FC and Bolaji FC, which ended in 0-1 victory in favor of Bolaji FC at full-time.

    The last game of the day had High Klass Academy and Maradona FC lock horns as it 0-2 score margin in favor of *Maradona* FC at full-time play.

    Other preliminary knock-out matches will continue on Thursday, November.24th, and promises to showcase the best of talents from the grassroot level. Commentary was from Bello Omotunde (Dux 94.7fm);
