The Graceland Estate CDA in Egbe-Idimu LCDA of Alimosho LGA
are crying out to the office of the minister of Works and Housing Mr.
Babatunde Raji Fashola {SAN] to come to their rescue of ongoing
shoddy construction of road within their estate.

    Shoddy job

The construction work which commenced in 2019 linking the estate with LASU- Igando expressway and was listed as a federal government project through the
office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable
Development Goals [OSSAPSDGs], headed by the former Deputy Governor of
Lagos State Hon. Mrs. Joke Orelope Adefulire and to be supervised by the Federal Ministry of Work and Housing

    Another portion of the construction

According to a member of the Community Development Authority [CDA]
identified as Mr. Akintoye Francis who spoke with our correspondent,
from the point of an engineer, he noted that members of the communities around heaved a sigh of
relief at the commencement of the project which has dragged beyond their
expectation; however as the job progressed it was observed that the
listed supervisory minisrtry– The Federal Ministry of Works and Housing
never showed up to enforce standards rather left the contractor all alone to carry on with such a shoddy job.
    Poorly done

Mr. Akintoye maintained that during the
excavation of the surface which is usually done with a heavy earth
moving machines (Bulldozers) it was not done rather an excavator was
used which he noted will never give the desired output also the shoulders of
the road were poorly done, beside that they had planned to release at kegs
while the undulating points are inconsistent with some having 300mm,
mm, 150mm etc.; no local government will approve this kind of job not to
    talk of the federal ministry.

    He further stated that from their observation barely four days after the asphalts were laid;
parts of the roads are already peeling off while cracks can be seen all
over; which he said will not last the rainy season but will rather
throw the entire estate into a worse situation and amounting to waste of tax payers’ money.
He also confirmed to us that the leaders of the estate had challenged the contractor who also attested the
shoddy job but failed in any effort of effecting rectification rather
gave flimsy excuses on the quality of the asphalt which may have
    been compromised

The CDA is appealing on the Honourable Minister of Works and Housing
and his Ministry to urgently come to their rescue and redress this
anomaly before the contractors leaves the site and save Graceland Estate from impending deplorable state of
    roads.
Meanwhile efforts to get words from the office Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable
Development Goals failed as messages sent could not deliver as at time of press.
