The pivotal role Alimosho plays in politics can never be over emphasized and may have attracted the visit of the representative of European Union Election Observation Mission in Nigeria for pre election familiarization. Mrs. Cicilia Keaveney and Mr. Matthias Van Lohuizen in an interactive session with the Vice chairman of Alimosho, Hon. Prince. Francis Adebisi and Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Dare Ogunkoya discussed the election preparation in Alimosho towards 2019 election.
Hon. Francis commended the European Union for their recommendation on election procedures after 2015 election. He said “it has been agreed that voting should be after accreditation rather than what we had in 2015 where voters went back home after accreditation”.
On election sensitization, the Media Aid to the chairman, Mr. Ayinde Jamiu said “the local government uses radio jingles, social media post, road shows among others to inform the people on election participation vis a vis collection of voters card, voting and monitoring of voting process”.
The secretary to the local government, Hon. Dare Ogunkoya uses the opportunity to established the marginalization of Alimosho Local Government in the House of Representation, while Surulere and Mushin with lesser population have two representatives each, there is a need for review”.
