Located within the Egbin Power Plant in Ikorodu, the Learning Academy serves as a strategic capacity development hub. Its primary objective is to bridge competency gaps and empower employees with the technical, operational, management, and leadership skills necessary for professional growth and efficient performance.

According to the CEO of Egbin Power, Mokhtar Bounour, the company’s dedication to human capital development is unwavering. “Our people are our greatest assets. Hence, we are committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning and development, ensuring that our employees are well-equipped to meet the challenges of the industry,” Bounour emphasized.

The Learning Academy’s programs are structured into two main schools: the Technical School and the Leadership Development School. The Technical School offers specialized training in areas such as electrical, mechanical, instrumentation & control, chemicals and oil, and facility management. The Leadership Development School focuses on non-technical aspects, including digital innovation, poise, and leadership development interventions.

Participants in the Academy’s programs benefit from comprehensive training provided by in-house subject-matter experts, practical sessions, simulations, case studies, coaching, mentoring, and hands-on learning opportunities. The curriculum is crafted to boost proficiency, support career growth, and enhance employees’ capabilities in handling technical, management, and leadership responsibilities.

The Head of Human Resources, Gabriel Nkanga, highlighted the program’s objectives, stating that the primary goal is to bridge the gaps between competency and proficiency levels. The Head of Maintenance, Felix Ebiware, added that training builds commitment, drives innovation, and inspires improvements, cross-functional learning, and skill enhancement among staff.

Egbin Power’s commitment to investing in the growth and development of its employees is a testament to its dedication to setting the standard in the power sector. With the revitalized Learning Academy, the company is poised to continue delivering exceptional performance and driving innovation in the industry.
