The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has requested an adjournment in the alleged fraud case against former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, citing the 30-day window for the previously issued summons still being active.
At the resumed hearing before Justice Maryann Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, EFCC Counsel Jamiu Agoro explained that proceeding with the case while the summons window is open would be inappropriate. Consequently, the EFCC proposed November 27, 2024, as the new hearing date, which was accepted by the court.
Administrative Bail Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, Bello’s co-defendants, have been granted administrative bail by the EFCC.
The case has been adjourned to November 27, 2024, for arraignment.
The court granted the EFCC’s request to post the hearing notice at Bello’s last known address.
Bello, Oricha, and Hudu face a 16-count charge instituted by the EFCC. Bello is also facing separate charges, including an 18-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of N80.2 billion
