President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday orders total lockdown of movements in FCT Abuja, Lagos and Ogun states in a bid to contain the spread of the pandemic. This order was contained in his national broadcast speech  on Sunday March 29, 2020.

He appealed to Nigerians to bear with the order as its a sacrifice for all patriotic citizens in other to contain the spread of the virus as he stated will help in tracing, isolating those that may have been in contact with confirmed cases and enable the treatment of already identified cases without spreading to other states.

He also listed the government’s plans to cushion the effect of the order for satellite town residents and also directed for an immediate implementation of a three months moratorium period for government agencies loans such as Trader Moni, Marketmoni, Famersmoni and loans from Bank of Industry, Bank of Agriculture and Nigerian Export Bank.

He also listed those that are exempted from the restriction to include those in the health sector, telecommunications, print media and vehicles conveying food items amongst others.

He assured Nigerians that the government will continue to review and adopt measures that will be in the interest of all while thanking those that have supported the government with donations and request that the donations be channeled through the office of the Task Force on Covid 19 for proper usage.
