A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) a 14-day remand order for Sulaimon Jimoh, alias ‘Olowo Idi Ogede’ or ‘Temo’, an alleged drug baron. The court also ordered the interim attachment of a grey Mercedes Benz SUV GLE, believed to be a proceeds of illicit drug dealing, to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Justice Akintayo Aluko granted the orders following an application by the NDLEA, which alleged that Temo is a high-profile drug baron controlling the cannabis trade in West Africa. The agency claimed that several tons of drugs had been seized from him in the past, but he had always managed to escape arrest.
The NDLEA argued that Temo’s remand was necessary for extensive investigation and to prevent him from escaping again. The court adjourned the case until August 9, 2024, for further investigation.
Temo, 57, was arrested on Monday in the Mushin area of Lagos after an initial resistance from him and his hoodlums. The NDLEA recovered a Mercedes Benz SUV from him during the arrest.
