*Demonstrating exemplary commitment to gender inclusion, Coca-Cola Nigeria emerged as a pace-setter at the Women in Marketing and Communications Awards (WIMCA) 2023. The beverage company’s unwavering efforts towards diversity and inclusion garnered noteworthy recognition, solidifying its standing as a catalyst for progressiveness within the Food and Beverage sector.
The prestigious event, held at Landmark Centre, Lagos on the 18th of November 2023, convened industry stalwarts to honor females making significant strides in the Nigerian marketing and communications industry.
Coca-Cola Nigeria clinched the eminent title of the “Most Outstanding Beverage Company in Gender Inclusion”. Furthermore, the company’s Director of Public Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability, Nwamaka Onyemelukwe, was distinguished as a top influencer among the “Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing and Communications in Nigeria”. Adesoji Omoigui, the company’s Frontline Marketing Senior Manager, received the accolade for the “Most Outstanding Marketing Professional of the Year—Beverages”.
Underscoring its commitment towards a balanced workforce, Coca-Cola boasts 49% of its senior leadership positions being held by women across its Africa Operating Unit. This milestone reflects significant progress in keeping with its plans to achieve 50% of women leadership representation globally by 2030.
Coca-Cola Nigeria’s win for the “Most Outstanding Beverage Company in Gender Inclusion” affirms the company’s dedicated drive towards fostering an egalitarian workspace. Also noteworthy is the company’s strategy to utilize its business system and brands to ensure access to equal opportunities and foster a sense of belonging in the communities they serve.
Nwamaka Onyemelukwe expressed delight emphasizing Coca-Cola Nigeria’s proactive commitment to create a diverse and inclusive environment and its ongoing gender equity enhancement initiatives such as the JAMII Femmes Project, Digital Academy for Female Entrepreneurs (D.A.F.E), AWAMBI Initiative, Catalyst for Change Project, and many more. Over the years, Coca-Cola has been pivotal in creating impactful community programs to drive sustainable development and effective stakeholder engagement.

The “Most Outstanding Marketing Professional of the Year—Beverages” winner, Adesoji Omoigui, expressed gratitude on receiving the prestigious recognition and attributed the accolade not only to her personal journey but also to the ethos of Coca-Cola Nigeria´s consummate dedication to creativity, authenticity, and its consumer-centric approach.
WIMCA, a prominent platform for female professionals in brand and marketing communications across Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa, was originally inaugurated in 2014 and seeks to celebrate women-driven excellence creating a vibrant network of female marketing communication professionals.
