… Residents of 401Road, Gowon Estate Cry Out
… Dump Site Emerges within the Estate
The efforts of the Lagos state government led by Mr Akinwunmi Ambode in bringing a world class cleaner environment for her citizenry may be facing a tough huddle as residents of Gowon Estate in Mosan Okunola LCDA cry out on the sudden emergence of a dump site within their residents.
The end of 401 Road over the years has acted as a refuse collection point for the the PSP trucks prior to the new new Cleaner Lagos Initiative which ordinarily would have been expected improve on the activities of the PSP, but reverse is the case as the hip of refuse has grown to a dump site.
A resident who pleaded anonymity said they now live in fear of outbreak of epidemic as the site has become threats to the estate. She reiterated that kids are no longer free to play as parents now watch their wards from getting in contact with it. More also, the stench from it makes life very unbearable around the site.
A petty trader within the site complained of how her business is negatively affected by the hip of refuse as she said no customer will have the patience to stay around here for anything, while noting that the refuse has become a regular sight since the advent of the initiative. She appealed to authorities to come to their aid by making the evacuation of the refuse on a regular basis
