The Head of the Interim National Government that succeeded the regime of General Ibrahim Babangida, Chief Ernest Shonekan, has died.
Shonekan died at a private hospital in Lagos at the age of 85.
Chief Ernest Shonekan was the head of an interim government set up by General Ibrahim Babangida aftermath of the annulment of the June 1993 elections adjudged to the country’s freest and fairest won by Chief M.K.O Abiola.
His reign was cut short by a palace led by late General Sani Abacha on November 17, 1993.
He has since then remain relevant to issues of Nigeria and would be missed.
