…Charges Alimosho Leaders To Live A Purposeful Life
Alimosho Youth Development Association of Nigeria AYDAN marked the end of 2017 with a posthumous prestigious award of Alimosho Man of the Year Award 2017 to late Shakirudeen Alabi Balogun for his selfless style of leadership, demonstrated commitment toward both youth and community development, philanthropies and exceptional qualities. The presentation took place at the residence of the awardee on Sunday December 31st, 2017.
According to AYDAN, the award is as a result of series of consultations, investigations and unbiased evaluations, Late Hon. Shakirudeen Alabi Balogun emerged the winnerFor the presentation of the posthumous award the association decided to host it at the deceased residence as mark of honour.
The members of AYDAN were warmly welcomed by the Shakirudeen Alabi Balogun Political campaign team with a brief welcoming speech and a formal introduction of the deceased family to the Association by Comrade Kabir,
while Comrade Abdul Who looked sobbed gave a detailed account of the journey so far on SAB campaign team, their challenges the excruciating exit of their leader had caused.
Before the presentation, Comrade. Odutayo Oluwaseun without much ado, briefly introduced members of the association and SAB Campaign team, giving accounts of some of the achievements AYDAN made in 2017.
Noting that late Alhaji Shakirudeeen Alabi Balogun, was honoured with the posthumous award as a recognition of his numerous achievements recorded during his brief lifetime. The one-term branch General Secretary of the National Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE) and two terms branch Chairman of NULGE was a man with a large heart.
In his remark the President of Alimosho Youth Development Association of Nigeria Comrade Ogungnade Olawale while reading his citation said “Hon. Shakiru Alabi Balogun contributed to some of the monumental developmental growth in his community;evidenced by the 500 KVA transformer he donated to the community and the skill acquisition center at Egan, Lagos State, with the support and assistance of Her Excellency, Hon. Joke Orelope-Adefulire, the former Deputy Governor of Lagos State amongst others.
The ward secretary of the defunct NRC contributed immensely toward the empowerment of youths within his Local Government and beyond, his eleemosynary zeal knew no bound; one that earned him a lot of accolades within different organizations both religious and civil society group, his house was a hive of needy during his lifetime.

Explaining how Late Shakirudeen was disenfrachized as a candidate during the last concluded Lagos State Local Government Chairmanship election, Comrade Ogungbade Olawale explained candidates were imposed on other aspirants, an exercise which affected Late Shakirudeen’s chairmanship aspiration, the imposition exercise according to President of AYDAN had the full support of National leadership of All Progressive Congress.
Regretably,despite his tireless contributions to his party (APC) and the explicable pains his untimely departure had caused his family and his loyal supporters, the party is yet to play any palliative role to his supporters and family in Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area, the LCDA.
The climax of the event was the presentation of the award to the son of the deceased, Mr. Ahmeed Balogun and capping the event was a brief admonition by Comr. Onishola, according to him “death is not the ultimate calamity that could befall a man, Late Hon. Shakirudeen has spent a purposeful life, the leaders of Alimosho should take a queue from late Shakirudeen’s exemplary accomplishment. He departed this earth with a reason best known to his creator that took him away from us, we can only but always remember that death is inevitable and the day we will all leave this earth and meet our creator to give account on how we have spent our lives should always remain afresh in our heart”
He then gave a closing prayer, with a vote of thanks by the son of the deceased Mr. Ahmeed Balogun. Also in attendance are; Comrade Mubarak,Otunba Adeyemi Adesanya , Comrade Aloma, Comrade Raji Comrade Elisha among others.
the Coordinator of SAB campaign team Comr. Aberuagba Kabiru, Comr. Abdul Yussuf, Comrade Abdulateef Nurudeen, Comrade Ogunsakin Olalekan, Comrade Tiamiyu Yussuf, the wife of the deceased, Mr. Ahmeed Balogun the son of the deceased and the relatives.
Late Hon. Shakirudeen died on on 21st July 2017, a day before the purported Local Government Election. He was involved in an accident involving a PSP truck at Oko filling bus stop along Lasu-Igando road; he is survived by wives and children.
May his gentle soul continue to rest in peace.
