The Association of Practitioners of Community Media (APCOM) held it July 2019 monthly statutory meeting at the Ilupeju Recreation Hall, Ilupeju in Lagos state on Friday.
The meeting provided its members opportunity to review the association’s activities in the last weeks amongst are the association’s campaign activities that saw its members visiting some television and radio station preaching the community media gospel.
The meeting also had the Lagos Television community update crew in attendance and also the immediate past Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lagos State in attendance as a member and was honoured with Jersey number 00.
APCOM believes that its time for community media to play the role the medium played in actualizing Nigeria’s independence in 1960, as it believes that politics and true development is local hence the need for Nigerians to embrace the insurgency of community media.
The meeting provided members the opportunity to look at how to improve on their craft as it plans to have a world class training for its members in August and other partnerships that will help in sustaining their businesses.
APCOM President, Mr Dayo Akintobi urged members to remain focused and result in delivering the professionalism their craft requires while emphasising on the need to have a corporate structures for bigger businesses soonest.
Akintobi also presented the cup won by APCOM during the invitational 5-aside tournament for NIPR week for 2019 to members.
Yhe membership application of Mr Idris Kasumu of Lagos Television was unanimously ratified by its members.
