The Executive Chairman of Alimosho local government, Hon. Jelili Sulaimon and his team has commissioned a Vocational Center for Primary School students in African Church Primary School and Akowonjo Primary School. The project is in partnership with Jaiz Foundation.
The vocational center will serve as a training ground for Primary 4, 5 and 6 pupils in the school. The project is part of the campaign promise of Hon. Jelili Sualimon.
In his welcome address, Hon. Yusuf Azeez, the Supervisory Councillor for Education said “hair dressing, barbing, shoe making and tailoring will be learnt in the newly commissioned vocational center.
Jelili said ” this center will serve about three hundred students (300) from both schools, and the skill acquisition program will be part of the school curriculum noting that the council will monitor the progress of the students”
He further said “we intend to extend this to all primary schools in Alimosho to serve as a model for schools in west Africa”.
The Executive Director of Jaiz, Dr. Abdullah Shuib said ” 13.2 million are out of school in Africa adding that vocational training is part of the method propose to cater for future generation. This initiative is the first of its kind and we are happy to be part of it.”
The Educational Secretary said “this is a very great project and we will love it to be repeated in all other schools in Alimosho”
The event was graced by Oba of Shasha Land, political leaders, CDC, School PTA representatives, LASCOTA among others.
