Ngozi Okoronkwo, the suspended Commissioner for Health in Abia state, has tendered her resignation to Governor Alex Otti. This development comes after her suspension on June 11, while a panel investigated her alleged misconduct.
According to the Chief Press Secretary, Njoku Ukoha, Okoronkwo submitted her resignation letter on Tuesday, despite the ongoing investigation. Governor Otti accepted her resignation, expressing gratitude for her services and achievements in repositioning the state’s health sector.
This resignation marks the third departure from Governor Otti’s administration, following the recent resignations of the commissioners for science and technology, Chima Oriaku, and agriculture, Monica Ironkwe. The governor reiterated his commitment to transforming Abia state, emphasizing his mandate to assemble and adjust his team as needed to deliver on his promises.
Okoronkwo’s resignation brings an end to her tenure as health commissioner, and the state government will likely announce a replacement in due course.NAN
