The residents of Egbeleyi Street in Egbe-Idimu LCDA will soon heave a sigh of relief after over two years of abandonment. This is coming on the efforts of their son, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagements Honourable Kehinde Joseph who confirmed to us at the time of filing this report that he was in Epe to meet with the Construction Company as the state has given her a seven days ultimatum to remove the abandoned and life threatening Caterpillars on the street which has meted serious hardship on the residents.
Our correspondents had visited the area following our attention drawn by a concerned resident following serious hardship. The road which was awarded by the immediate past administration and was later abandoned without any cogent reason. Speaking to our correspondent; a resident identified as Mr Paul Fadaun said that efforts have been made to get the construction company to move their articulated trucks from the street which has resulted to a life threatening one sighting an instance where a young man fell on one of the iron rods which pierced through his ribs; though he survived.
He reiterated that the street was not that bad before the award of its construction which ran into a hitch following the complain of the construction company not meeting the required standard and were asked to buckle up by the supervising unit from Alausa. We were reliably informed that the construction company requested for more funding to enable them progress with the job but was rebuffed as the order handed to them was to complete it before additional fund will be paid and that was where the job stuck.

He further stated that through the Community Development Association they have made efforts to get the company to remove the truck from the street as it blocked them from using the street which has not yielded any result. He also acknowledged the efforts of their son; KJ who has used his position to assist the residents in various capacities which included the settlement for those whose houses were demolished and in pushing for the attention of the present government to come to their aid.
Our efforts to put a call through to his phone without any response but he was quick to respond to our SMS; informing us that he was in Epe at the head office of the construction company to hand them an order to move those trucks within seven days or risk forfeiting them to the Ministry of Environment who will be ordered to tow them.
He (KJ) further stated that the road will be worked on when the rains are over. Calls to the two numbers of the Project manager of the company were not answered and no response to SMS sent to his line to confirm their position on the matter. Also the Sole Administrator of Egbe-Idimu LCDA, Honourable Adedoyin Salami was yet to respond to our messages via WhatsApp as at the time of filling this report.
