The Association of Small Scale Miners of Nigeria, Zamfara State Chapter, has commended President Bola Tinubu for reappointing Fatima Umaru-Shinkafi as the Executive Secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund (SMDF) and the Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (PAGMI).
In a press release signed by its chairman, Abubakar Rabiu, the association described the reappointment as a strategic decision that underscores the president’s commitment to the growth of Nigeria’s non-oil sector.
The association congratulated Umaru-Shinkafi on her “well-deserved” reappointment, lauding her dedication to the development of Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.
It highlighted her contributions, including attracting foreign investors, empowering local miners, and creating job opportunities for thousands of youths.
“This is a well-considered appointment that will consolidate, deepen, and strengthen the solid minerals sector. Hajia Fatima Umaru-Shinkafi has demonstrated exceptional commitment to driving the sector forward, significantly contributing to the nation’s gross domestic product,” the statement said.
The group also praised Tinubu for fulfilling his campaign promise to include women in key government positions, calling the move an “eloquent testimony” of his administration’s gender-friendly stance.
“We urge Nigerians to support this woman of destiny in our collective quest for a better society,” the statement concluded.
