The Federal Government has declared Monday, September 16, as a public holiday to commemorate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, known as Eid-ul-Mawlid. This was announced by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, in a statement.
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, congratulated Muslim faithful and Nigerians on this occasion, urging them to embrace the spirit of patience, sacrifice, and resilience. He also encouraged Muslims to use the opportunity to pray for enduring peace and a more prosperous nation.
This public holiday is a recognition of the significance of Eid-ul-Mawlid in the Islamic calendar and a gesture of goodwill towards the Muslim community in Nigeria.
