In a bid to advance technology in Nigeria and strengthen the power sector, Egbin Power Plc, the country’s largest power generation company, has introduced an internship program called Egbin PowerUp. This six-month immersive program aims to provide students with hands-on technical experience, fostering innovation and excellence in the industry.
The program offers students from various tertiary institutions across Nigeria the opportunity to work alongside seasoned professionals at the Egbin Power Plant, gaining practical experience and bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application.
According to CEO Mokhtar Bounour, the program empowers young people with problem-solving skills, preparing them for the future and enabling them to make a meaningful impact on society. “Investing in our nation’s youth is investing in Nigeria’s future,” he said.
The current cohort includes students from leading institutions, and the program aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal 4, ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities.
Through initiatives like Egbin PowerUp, the company remains committed to investing in the future of Nigeria’s power sector and nurturing the next generation of leaders, driving growth and contributing to the country’s progress and prosperity.
