Minister, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Barr Nyesom Wike has restated the FCT administration’s commitment to fostering a fruitful partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA.

The Minister, on Tuesday, expressed confidence in the continued growth of their relationship and reaffirming the administration’s dedication to achieving mutual goals for the benefit of the people, as he welcomed the Chief Representative of JICA to Nigeria, Mr. Yuzurio Susumu.

Drawing from his extensive experience as the former Minister of State for Education, Wike commended JICA for its significant contributions to enhancing education quality and access across Nigeria.

He particularly appreciated JICA’s commitment to extending its efforts to the FCT, citing initiatives such as the Abuja urban master plan approved in 2019 as examples of their impactful collaboration.

Highlighting JICA’s broad scope of activities spanning various sectors nationwide, Wike praised the organization’s solid relationship with Nigeria, emphasizing its commendable work in agriculture, nutrition promotion, and maternal health training.

Assuring JICA of the FCT’s unwavering commitment to sustaining their partnership, Wike underscored the importance of completing ongoing projects, especially water-related initiatives, within scheduled timeframes. He pledged the FCT administration’s dedication to fulfilling its obligations and aligning with JICA’s support.

Expressing confidence in JICA’s capacity to deliver on its promises, Wike welcomed further collaboration with the organization to achieve more for the people of the FCT.

He emphasized the administration’s readiness to cooperate closely with JICA and expressed optimism about the continued growth of their relationship.

Looking ahead, Wike proposed expanding JICA’s teacher training programs beyond the FCT, with a particular focus on science and mathematics education, demonstrating the administration’s eagerness to continue partnering with JICA in critical areas for educational advancement.

In his earlier remarks, Chief Representative of JICA to Nigeria, Mr. Yuzurio Susumu,
reiterated the agency’s commitment to capacity building for FCT staff and promising young individuals. He emphasized JICA’s longstanding collaboration with the government in sustainable economic development and its integral role in the development of the Abuja urban master plan.
