World over; the delivery of quality healthcare services to the communities has remained a worrisome challenge and major concerns for international agencies such the World Health Organisation, United Nations etc. though efforts have been made by Foundations such as The Bill Gate, CACOVID to driving healthcare services to the hinterlands yet the widening gap has remained inexhaustible.
The recent outbreak of the Corona pandemic also exposed the neglects on quality community healthcare services as concerns were to avoid the community transmission of the virus.
With Alimosho LGA certified as the most populated local government area even beyond the shores of Nigeria and its West African neighboring nations; the concerted efforts of the state government through its ministry of health in increasing numbers of Primary Health Centers across the state which has remained steadily on increase of its {PHCs} demand thereby prompting the need for private healthcare services to join in the provision of quality healthcare services for communities at an affordable rates.
Doctor Uboh, the Chief Medical Officer of GLUBO Clinic affirms this to our correspondent on his mission in locating his clinic in a remote area of Olayemi Road in Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, Alimosho LGA.
Having worked in various capacities as a doctor in mostly government owned general hospitals from the North to the South-South and now in the Western region of the Nigeria, his experience and passion to saving lives was the main objective of Globo Clinic. “ In my over a decade of practice I have come to identify that the major challenge to quality healthcare delivery is solely the dependence on profit making for hospitals, though its expected as the healthcare sector remains one of the most capital intensive to operate”.
Globo clinic is set up to add a thrust in fine tuning these narratives; in as much as we know that business is for profit yet the primary purpose of a healthcare outfit is to save lives and this we try to maintain ahead of the rest hence our slogan “Na who dey alive go pay”.
Glubo is primarily poised to saving lives first before payments and this has been our testimonies in few months of our operations in this community, we are also reaching out to the community through their leadership on our mission, this is with the knowledge of reasons peoples’ preference to government hospitals which is basically for a subsidized fee which we are also adopting hence patients can be referred to us knowing fully well that same services and rates are obtainable; though this is still a proposition which will be duly pursued in due course.
Currently our efforts are geared towards partnerships with major pharmaceutical companies and None governmental organizations {NGOs} which will support in driving and sustaining the mission of provision of quality and affordable community healthcare services.
