The immediate past Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman of Ipaja-Ayobo LCDA Comrade Abiodun Coker has applauded the Lago state government led by Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for the continuity of projects initiated by his predecessor Mr Akinunmi Ambode within the environs of Ipaja-Ayobo LCDA,
According to the comrade who noted that the projects were developmentally based and aimed at creating more link roads within the state towards reducing travelling time of assessing one point from another.
He also urged the chairman of the LCDA Hon. Shakiru Yusuf to strive to the completion of the Alaja Road, construction of Olayemi Road and other adjoining roads so as to ease the envisaged difficulties for motorists to connect with the Igando-Olayemi link road.
Our visit to the projects sites confirmed ongoing works at the sites though at a very slow pace; contractors were seen working on the Isefun-Ijon Town road which is about 75% completion while there was no work ongoing at the Ijon Jetty; however our correspondent was informed that one of the engineers was around earlier and affirmed that workers were arriving soon as informed by some members of the community sighted within the Jetty.
The Ijon Jetty when completed is expected to add the route to the Lagos State water ways Authority (LASwA) as an alternative transportation means for residents of Alimosho LGA and its environs and to improve on what is obtainable currently at the Jetty, on the other hand; the link bridge is expected to enhance time of travelling from Ayobo and its environs to Igando linking other routes and most importantly to save lives from the continuous use of the over twelve dilapidating beam-bridges serving the purpose of linking Igando-Ikotun LCDA for decades
Comrade Coker reiterated that the purpose of the link bridge will be undermined if its linking roads are not constructed hence the need for the LCDA chairman to see to the completion of the construction of Alaja Road which has been abandoned half way and facilitating the construction of other roads such as Ashipa Road, Kufo, Olayemi, Olorunisola road and others since the state government has opted to the completion of the major roads.
