2023: Political Parties Get One Month To Submit Candidates

    The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has given all 18 political parties one month to submit names of candidates for the various elective offices ahead of the 2023 general elections.

    The commission made this known on Thursday in a statement issued on its official twitter account seen by Neptune Prime.

    This is coming after have been speculations that the electoral umpire might extend date of submission of candidates unto its portal.

    Part of the statement reads, “In compliance with Section 82(21) of the Electoral Act 2022, all 18 political parties have served the required notices indicating the dates for their conventions, congresses and primaries for the purpose of nominating candidates for various elective offices as specified in the Commission and the Electoral Act. Some of the parties have already commenced the process for which the Commission has deployed staff to monitor the exercise as required by law.”

    Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday has released a timetable detailing activities for the 2022 /2023 elections.

    With just one month to INEC’s deadline, more presidential aspirants still emerging. The latest is the Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, Adams Oshiomole, Pastor Tunde Bakare and Senator Ibikunle Amosu, all vying for the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC
