The APC Vice Chairman, Lagos West Senatorial District, Chief Tunde Aboyade has urged aspirants who contested the just concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries to support candidates who emerged in the process.
Aboyade added that this will promote unity and solidify the cohesiveness among party members going into the 2023 elections.
The APC stalwart while addressing aspirants that contested the APC primaries at New Era Road, Iyana Ipaja yesterday pleaded with the aspirants to respect the party’s decision as regards the candidates presented so that the opposition can be defeated during the general elections.
According to him, APC is a Progressives party and anyone can be called upon at anytime to serve the party or on the country at anytime.
The Lagos APC Chieftain enjoined the aspirants to de-emphasize caucuses and work towards the emergence of the party’s candidates in Alimosho and Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at next year’s general election.
“Now that candidates have emerged, we should de-emphasize caucuses, every caucus should come together to support the party’s candidates in different capacities. We now have the general assignment of delivering at the general election.
“As aspirants, we must also note that our National Leader, Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s emergence as the flag bearer of the party has further increased the chances of aspirants to get rewarded by the party”, Aboyade said.
The APC Vice Chairman further charged the aspirants to canvass their followers and other constituents to register and collect their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) and shun acts of using the social media to insult or castigate other members.
“Alimosho is a densely populated Constituency but we cannot make use of our population if our people don’t have their Permanent Voters’Cards (PVCs) as it is the only means to vote during the general election.
“The social media all over the world has become a veritable tool for political campaigns. We must however be cautious on how we use the social media going into next year’s elections so as not to heat up the polity and cause disunity. This is not the time to castigate or insult anyone on social media.
APC is a national and not a regional political party, hence, we must see members from other parts of the country as brothers.
“We must recognise the contributions of President Muhammadu Buhari and all APC governors to the emergence of Ashiwaju as the APC candidate for next year’s Presidential election. Ashiwaju’s ambition is a task for all of us to achieve so that this golden opportunity will not slip through our fingers.
“I enjoin us to engage in issue- base campaigns and refrain from insults and hate speeches. The country already has myriads of challenges to deal with and we must not add to it”, he cautioned.
Aboyade further stressed the need for Alimosho to use it’s population to deliver the needed votes that will ensure APC’s victory in 2023.
Also speaking, a party leader and member representing Alimosho Constituency 01 at the State House of Assembly Honourable Bisi Yusuf admonished the aspirants towards making APC stronger in Alimosho.
